The System and its Sucess
The Laura Stamm International Power Skating System is the finest hockey skating training program in the world.
Since 1970 Laura Stamm and her team of Certified Instructors have trained hockey players throughout the world. Laura's power skating techniques are proven by the pros and have improved the speed, efficiency and overall skating techniques of thousands of pro, amateur and recreational hockey players.
Wayne Gretzky has said, "If you can't skate, you can't play our sport. Skating is an art."
Skating, or SPEED, IS THE NAME OF THE GAME. Without good technique, it is very difficult for any hockey player to reach his or her optimum potential for speed.
Laura's teaching system has been chosen by profesioanl hockey teams including: the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, the German and Swedish national teams, the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation and many more.
Laura Stamm is the avowed pioneer, originator, and authority on power skating. Laura has written four books and has produced several instructional videos on her hockey skating techniques, which are the benchmark on hockey skating techniques. She also writes hockey skating tips that appear in hockey publications throughout the US and Canada.
Her System is world renowned and proven by the hundreds of pros who credit their success to her teaching techniques.

Laura Stamm Power Skating remains the model against which other power skating programs are measured
The System Design
The Laura Stamm International Power Skating System is designed to improve skating technique, balance and agility, introduce hockey specific skating skills, and advance the player's power speed and mobility.
Power Skating Programs include 3-5 day skating and stick handling clinics and camps, advanced workshops, skating lessons and workshops for elite players as well as clinics for hockey coaches and officials. The skating skills and skating drills are all hockey specific
Systems Technique and Philosophy
The technique covers forward and backward skating on straight and circular patterns, explosive starts, power turns quickness, rapid transition, positional skills, and hockey specific combination manoeuvres. The System is taught in a step-by-step, progressive sequence that is made simple to learn and easy to remember.
It takes years to excel in a sport. So it does for skating as well. Our program is a process! In the first step we teach the skill correctly. The next step is correctly and powerfully. The next step is correctly, powerfully and quickly. The next step is correctly, powerfully, quickly and with the puck. The final step is correctly, powerfully, quickly, with the puck and in game situations with lots of pressure. This is TOUGH. It takes years of work and years of practice to master all these skills at top speed under pressure.
The teaching philosophy remains the backbone of the Laura Stamm System where each skating manoeuvre is taught by breaking it down into parts. As the parts become integrated we add more elements and complexity to the skill. The goal is for students to master each manoeuvre so that in game situations they will skate correctly, powerfully and quickly, with and without the puck. My program syllabus is structured much like a pyramid - it focuses on establishing a strong foundation, with ever increasing subtleties as one nears the top echelon of skating ability.
